Terengganu drops symbol and sports mascot |

Five decades ago 10,000 leatherback turtles would nest on Terengganu’s beaches each year
and there were accompanying festivals but nowadays only two or three appear.
Although Terengganu has set up several turtle sanctuaries, very little action has been taken over the selling of turtle eggs in local markets and turtles have suffered from the effects of fishing, fishing boats with lights and lights on beaches.
Officials have now decided to change the mascot to a clownfish. |
