By Heneage Mitchell Thailand’s annual dive show, Thailand Travel & Dive Expo (TDEX), will run from May 15 to May 18, 2008, at the Queen Sirikit Exhibition Centre.
The show attracts many Thai visitors, and some foreigners too, and showcases some of the best diving opportunities in the Kingdom. Dive centres and resorts from around the country exhibit and there are plenty of deals to be made on accommodation, diving, courses and even liveaboard trips. Retail opportunities abound, with a great range of equipment and accessories for sale, often at knock down prices. Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia. Every year, millions of visitors visit the Kingdom, drawn by a huge variety of exciting, romantic and exotic entertainment options, including edutainment tourism to enjoy the legendary Thai culture and traditions. Travelers enjoy the countires beautiful mountains, waterfalls, rivers, and seas. The underwater resources of Thailand’s western coast (the Andaman Sea) and eastern shoreline (the Gulf of Thailand) remain abundant and intact. Statistics shows over 400,000 divers over the world arrive in Thailand’s southern provinces each year, generating revenues over THB20 billion Diving is one of the Kingdom’s most attractive draws, not only for foreigners but also for a growing number of Thais, and TDEX has become the principal exhibition catering to the diving community and ocean lovers.
