Vol.3 No.2 Equipment Voyager Dive Computer
Beuchat are marketing a diving computer called the 'Voyager', which can be used on air, nitrox or just in depth gauge and timer modes. It has two buttons to toggle between different information displays and metric and imperial. The lithium 3.6 Volt CR2450 battery is user-replaceable and there is the option of a PC interface with the related software. The percentage of O2 is adjustable by the user, from 21 to 50 in increments of 1%.
Using a Haldane algorithm modified by Dr. Ray Rogers and Dr. Michael Powell, it covers 12 tissues and a maximum depth of 60m on air or 120m in depth gauge and timer mode. The ascent rate is 18m per minute from maximum depth up to a depth of 18m and 9m per minute from 18m to the surface with possible decompression stops from 3 to 18m. Activation is automatic on immersion or manual and it has automatic altitude compensation up to a maximum altitude of 4267m.
Other details include: • Backlight activated by push-button (adjustable length). • Dive simulation mode Air and Nitrox. • Temperature range: from 0°C to 60°C. • Memory capacity: 24 dives. • Profile memory: adjustable saving frequency. • Automatic stop: 2 hours if not used / 24 hours after the last dive. • Conservation of data if replacing the battery. • The audio alarms, can be disabled by the user. Displays: • Planning: 3 to 57m. • Current depth displayed in big figures. • Dive time displayed in big figures. • Non-decompression limit. • Maximum depth. • Decompression-stop depth: 3-18m. • Decompression-stop time. • Surface interval time. • Ascent speed: analogical indicator by bar graph. • Saturation level N2: analogical indicator by bar graph. • O2 CNS percentage: analogical indicator by bar graph. • Temperature indication. • Ascent speed alarm: visual and audio. • Possibility to switch between 4 displays during the dive. • Fly or no-fly warning • Total desaturation time. • Format 12h or 24h. • Date: day/month/year. • Battery-life remaining time indicator
