Divers find gold and silver off the Florida Keys |
|
Mel Fisher's Treasure Salvors from the treasure-hunting ship the Magruder have found two
gold bars and some silver coins about 56km (35-miles) off Key West, Florida. One bar found was about 18cm (7-inches) long and weighed about 0.5kg (1lb) and the second was longer and weighed about 1kg (2lbs).
The artefacts are thought to be from the shipwreck of the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Atocha, which sank in 1622. The estimated value is about US$250,000. |
